We have a corporate Environmental and Energy Policy, which together with our Environmental Energy and Management System, sets forth our goals and principles in terms of the impact of our processes onto the ecosystem. The policy – last updated in 2023 – demonstrates our commitment to the environment, energy efficiency and the protection of the communities where we operate. We have also developed lifecycle assessments for the elaboration of environmental product declarations (EPDs). We have already published three declarations in Mexico, and five more are in being elaborated.
Steel can be endlessly recycled without losing its properties. The use of recycled steel in the production process helps reduce CO2 emissions.
For the last five years, we have achieved 100% material efficiency. We have increased the number of co-products obtained throughout the manufacturing cycle, which are in turn used by different industries such as cement, plastics and carbonated drinks, among others.
At Ternium we seek to maximize efficiency in the use of resources by introducing the “circular economy” concept throughout our production process, from raw material extraction to product manufacturing, use and recycling.
