After 70 developments were presented, only 61 projects were selected and 17 were highlighted by the jury for their contribution to agribusiness technological development. All awards will be given from March 9 to 12 at Expoagro 2021.
The passion for innovation within the agribusiness sector needs to be recognized. The competition organized by Ternium and Expoagro, in collaboration with the German Agricultural Society (DLG, for its acronym in German), recognizes once again the ingenuity and creativity of Argentine inventors and developers from this area.
The 7th edition of the Ternium Expoagro Award for Agribusiness Innovation set a record in terms of the number of participants and with 70 developments presented for its 12 categories. From those innovations, 61 reached the jury stage, which was held online from November 24 to 27. Then, after the deliberation with the DLG, the final verdict was announced on Monday 30. In this new edition, 9 developments were granted the Gold Medal, another 5 obtained the Silver Medal, 14 were awarded a mention in Industrial Design and other 9 in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
In this regard, Dr. Thomas Rademacher, member of the jury from the University of Bingen, said: "These innovations proved that Argentine agriculture is highly technological. What we have highlighted since 2009 is that the developments presented are generally created for the local market, and there is a huge opportunity to learn about the technology and the forms of construction for the Argentine market." Moreover, he added: "The innovations presented in this contest are at a very high level of development of industrial engineering and agriculture."
The prestigious jury of experts, who give the seal of quality to the Award, included the participation of Sergio Marinelli (AAPRESID), Gustavo Barragán (CEIL), María Borghi (Cideter), Carlos Van Gelderen (Conicet), Gabriel Tinghitella (CREA), Eduardo Croce (FAUBA), Analía Cervini (Government of the City of Buenos Aires, Ministry of Economic and Productive Development), Hernán Ferrari (INTA), Marcelo Marzocchini (INTI), Jorge Francisco Cosiansi (UNC), Fernando Cuenca Revuelta (UNRC), Eduardo Soza (University of Morón), Leopoldo Génova (UNLP and University of Concepción del Uruguay), Héctor Huergo (Clarín Rural), Alfredo Quiroga (External Consultant) and Thilo Keunecke (DLG, organizers of Agritechnica). The international jury evaluates the global impact that these innovations will have.
