Ternium’s first annual Sustainability Report presents key indicators that assess how the company’s commitment to be sustainable in the long term translates into reality.
Ternium’s annual Sustainability Report features 30 key indicators to assess the company’s work on Safety, Health, Environment, Human Resources, Innovation, Community Relations, Value Chain, Governance and Financial Performance
“Over the years, we have consistently published information on many of the areas presented here in our Annual Report. This year, we are extending the scope of our reporting to provide a more integral vision of the actions we are taking to improve the long-term sustainability of our activity”, says Paolo Rocca, Chairman of Ternium, in the report’s opening letter.
“This document condenses our commitment to advance, every day, a comprehensive and sustainable business strategy, and to strengthen and renew our license to operate,” says Ternium CEO Máximo Vedoya.
This first edition of the report reflects how the company’s core values guide its daily activities, and presents the information in perspective, reporting three to five years back in all areas.
Commenting on the report, José Fonrouge, Ternium’s Environment Director, said, “This report gives a transparent 360-degree vision of our approach to sustainable management, and it is a tool for our stakeholders to assess the action we take to minimize the environmental footprint of our operations and maximize the economic, social and community benefits of our industrial project.”
Ternium has a solid environmental management system implemented in all its production units. Over the last five years, the company certified its Environmental Management System under the ISO 14001 standard in all its main industrial sites. Periodical recertification contributes to the identification of improvement opportunities.
The report also highlights the improvement of the company’s safety performance: the Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) has reduced by half in the last five years.
As testimony of Ternium’s commitment to create a virtuous circle of growth in the locations where the company operates, the report also details investment and action in programs to support the value chain and the community, with a special focus on professionalization of management and education.
