Ternium takes part in the Steel E-Motive program, which seeks the future of sustainable mobility through the steel innovation.
A new WorldAutoSteel program, in which Ternium participates, will show the benefits of steel for sustainable mobility.
Steel will be an essential part of future mobility. Industry's innovation and teamwork aims to create more specialized steel that will be useful for the vehicles of the future, which are characterized by being electrical, connected, and autonomous.
WorldAutoSteel, the World Steel Association's automotive group, recently launched a new vehicle engineering program called Steel E-Motive to demonstrate the benefits of steel for adapting to the challenges of the vehicle industry, such as design, security, and efficiency. Ternium and other steel industries around the world are part of this effort.
"Steel E-Motive follows a long history of steel industry collaboration and commitment to support the evolution of vehicle design and use," said WorldAutoSteel director, Cees ten Broek. "We are close to a major event in the automotive history, what we know as normal is about to change significantly, and the steel industry plans to be in the middle of this revolutionary change. With a vast portfolio of Advanced High-Strength Steels and steel technologies, we envision Steel E-Motive will deliver new and exciting ideas for steel vehicle architectures that will shape the future of sustainable mobility", he stated in the program presentation announcement.
WorldAutoSteel has partnered with Ricardo, a global strategic engineering and environmental consultancy company, to develop the concepts for virtual vehicles. The company was selected for its reputation on innovation, its knowledge on vehicle electrification, and its commitment to sustainable mobility. WorldAutoSteel and Ricardo will keep a constant communication during this progress, showcasing results and innovation as the program advances, with final concept designs for the full vehicle revealed in late 2022.
