To generate more sustainable alternatives based on steel is a trend that can be observed nowadays in different industries. In the case of wooden pallets, which have begun being replaced by more resistant and sustainable units made by Ternium’s galvanized steel.
A standard steel pallet can withstand up to 2 tons of weight.
Many common everyday items are made of steel: from a car to a can of tomatoes, to even the steel framing used to build houses. Steel is presented constantly as a natural replacement for elements that have been historically built with materials that are less environmentally friendly.
In the case of wooden pallets, they can be replaced by more resistant and sustainable units. The Taboada family is behind this innovation. Eight years ago, the siblings Joaquín, Agustín, Valentín, and Camilo set out to produce steel pallets in Argentina That is how Ecopallets was born, whose plant is located on the Comirsa industrial park and currently sells its products to companies in seven provinces.
“The steel pallets comply with every phytosanitary measure, which is why they are needed in the food sector”, Joaquín comments. The Ecopallets plant has a high level of automation, and the key point is the processing machine. The main component is the galvanized steel made in Ternium
In the transition towards a society that is more environmentally friendly, steel is a great ally. No matter how many times it is melted and rolled, its physical properties remain intact. This is what makes it the most recycled material Furthermore, steel pallets are light, resistant, repairable, and fire-proof. Their benefits far surpass those of wooden ones. Forgoing the cutting down of trees, they have twice as much reliability.
“The next step is offering a recovery and repair service, further extending the product lifetime of our products”, envisions Joaquín Taboada.
