Last March we celebrated the awarding of the Scholarships for Excellence in each of our plants in the country. This initiative represents our commitment to our employees' academic and professional development. So far in 2024, we have been able to award 71 scholarships, totaling 721 benefits awarded since we started the program in the country.
Who can be beneficiaries of this program? Ternium employees and their children who are in high school or pursuing undergraduate, technical, or specialization studies, and who have demonstrated academic excellence.
An incentive for the future
For many like Luisfer Yosep Márquez, a student at Colegio Francisco de Quevedo del Atlántico and son of a Ternium employee, this scholarship means more than academic recognition. Luisfer wants to be a business administrator and a soccer player and considers this initiative a boost to continue fighting for his dreams.
Something similar happens with Austin Andrés Viveros, a seventh-grade student, who sees this scholarship as an opportunity to access a quality education and a job that will allow him to support his family. For him, each benefit is another step towards a promising future.
"'This is a token of affection and support from the company. It is not only an economic support, but it also motivates me to continue studying and to give my best". These are the words of Devid Santiago Quesada Lerma, a Systems Engineering student and son of a Ternium employee. He wanted to follow in the footsteps of his sister, who had already won the scholarship when she was in high school.
Support that transforms lives
Ternium's Scholarships for Excellence are powerful tools to empower talent, to change life stories, to transform communities and to build a brighter future for generations to come.
Argénido Suárez Urango is a scale operator in Itagüí, Antioquia, and this opportunity is a reason for gratitude to Ternium, but also to his family, who has supported him in his educational path from an early age. For him, this scholarship, in addition to economic support, is a boost that will allow him to continue growing personally and professionally.
Julián Esteban and Mariana Marroquín, children of Sandra Isabel Sierra, a Supply Chain employee in Bogotá, also benefited from this initiative. For their mother, this represents a great honor and motivation for them to continue striving to fulfill their dreams.
Promoting education in society
In 2024, scholarships were awarded to 14 Ternium employees in Colombia, while 57 went to their children. For more than ten years we have managed to maintain our commitment: to promoting education, development, and well-being in the communities where we operate through initiatives such as Scholarships for Excellence.
