On Sunday, November 3rd, the 10K Ternium event took place simultaneously in Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina. Discover how it was experienced in these three countries!
The Ternium communities in Monterrey, Santa Cruz, and San Nicolás de los Arroyos took part in exciting sports events, where people of all ages—professionals and amateurs alike—gathered to exercise and support various civil organizations.
Across the three races, over 12,500 runners participated in the 10K and 3K routes. Among them were parents, children, grandparents, colleagues, friends, celebrities, and even pets.
In San Nicolás de los Arroyos, participants gathered at the Costanera and Ecoparque, and after the start, followed the race through a giant screen set up on the main stage. For this event, the public voted to support Hogar El Amanecer, a children's shelter.
Around the Costanera, it wasn’t only high-performance athletes running; the Ternium Firefighters also joined in wearing their uniforms. "It’s good for the community to see that we’re in shape to do our job, that we follow a physical activity and nutrition plan, so we decided to try to spread this, especially to children and young people," they commented
In Monterrey, the Nuevo León Firefighters were honored guests at the race and expressed their gratitude to Ternium for the support. It’s a tradition for many runners to dress up for this event, and this year was no exception: SpongeBob, Little Wolf, and even a bottle of Ranch dressing were part of the fun.
"We started this race with the dream of creating a space for people to come together, exercise, and promote health, but after 16 years, we’ve found it’s become an iconic race and a reference point for all runners," said César Jiménez, President of Ternuim Mexico, during the symbolic check ceremony and awards presentation. This edition set a new record by raising $1,495,102 pesos, which were donated to the Alianza Anticáncer Infantil, an organization that provides medical services and care to children, young people, and their families affected by cancer.
Brazil also set a fundraising record, collecting five tons of food, which will be doubled by Ternium and donated to the NGO Ser Cidadão. “Today was our record for participants, a beautiful day with the streets of Santa Cruz filled with energy and health, as people ran, had fun, and walked in search of a better quality of life. It’s wonderful to see, and we’re proud to provide this event,” said Fernanda Candeias, Director of Community Relations.
This year saw more participants than ever, with around 3,000 runners. "This is our environment. This is our community. And this is what we need: for the people of Santa Cruz to see how we work and for us to understand how our community functions. It’s spectacular!" concluded Vinicius Teixeira, Senior Director of Operations.
