In mid-May, the new hot rolling mill, located at the Ternium Industrial Center in Pesqueria, Mexico, has produced its first two coils.
“This is a very important milestone, as it is the result of the effort of many people who invested their dedication all this time. It’s a success for all the team”, said César Jiménez, CEO of the company.
This new rolling mill has a capacity of more than 4 million tons a year and will produce specialized steel for the automotive and white goods industries. In total, more than 1,100 million dollars were invested in its development and nearly 2,400 people were involved in its construction.

“These results are proof of the great work that we have all done during this time. The rolling mill represents the hope and the desire to enter new markets in order to meet and satisfy our clients’ needs,” said Paulo López, Rolling Mill Director of the Ternium Industrial Center.
This new plant is part of phase 2 of the Ternium Industrial Center, along with the Galvanizing and Painting lines, which started operations in 2019. In total, 2,520 million dollars were invested for phases 1 and 2 of the Ternium Industrial Center, where around one thousand employees work.
Pablo Bassi, Director of Engineering, Environment, Health, Safety, and Industrial Coordination; César Jiménez, CEO of Ternium Mexico; and Fernando Villegas, Director of Engineering and Environment were present during the production of both steel coils.
The new hot rolling mill has the latest equipment in technology and is 100% automated, with more than 6,000 sensors installed throughout the mill, which allows for excellent precision in its operations.
In the next few days, steel roller tests are scheduled to run official operations in June.
