During the early morning of January 19th, the Hot Rolling Mill achieved a million tons of production.
The Hot Rolling Mill at the Ternium Industrial Center in Pesquería, Nuevo León has produced a million tons since it began its operations by mid-2021.
The most innovative Hot Roll Mill in Latin America, located at the Ternium Industrial Center in Pesquería, Mexico, achieved its first million tons production.
The Hot Rolling Mill is almost one kilometer long and has a production capacity of 4.4 million tons of steel per year. Furthermore, it has the latest technology equipment and it is 100% automated, having more than 6,000 sensors installed throughout the mill, which turn it into one of the most innovative ones worldwide.
This mill began operations in June 2021, and its production meets the demand for advanced steel for markets such as automotive, white goods, and metal-mechanic. Thickeners are as thin as 1.2 millimeters and as thick as 25.4 are rolled here. In regards to width, it rolls from 900 to 1,950 millimeters.

“During the past six months of operation, we have been facing many challenges such as the conditioning of the line, the training for the Hot Rolling area team, and the COVID-19 pandemic, which initially delayed the construction of the rolling mill. However, thanks to the preventive measures that were implemented, we managed to start operations in mid-2021”, he added.
This new plant makes up phase 2 of the Ternium Industrial Center, along with the Galvanization and Painting lines, which began their operations in 2019. In total, 2,520 million dollars were invested for phases 1 and 2 of the Ternium Industrial Center.
