The internal fleet at Ternium now will be formed by completely electrical cars.
Through a symbolic event in the Guerrero factor, led by CEO Cesar Jimenez and Commercial Vice president Mariano Ballestrero, Ternium received its first electric car. It was a Renault Kangoo van, which was delivered by a retinue from the assembly plant this past November 10th.
“Thank you very much for the delivery of this vehicle”, Jimenez thanked the retinue from Renault, “this car is part of the environmental commitment that Ternium has with every community.”
The car will be used for the Pesquería Services area from Ternium’s Industrial Center. It has a 200 kilometers autonomy, has a 33-kilowatt-hour battery and it can be charged in only five hours.
“We are very happy to take part in this environmental commitment with Mexico and be partners with a company like Ternium”, Renault Floats National Manager, Hector Magaña, highlighted.
Replacement of the internal fleet to electrical cars is one of the actions from Ternium as part of their environmental commitment.
For 2021/2022, Ternium will add eight more electrical vehicles to have a total of nine, pointed out Albes Urdaneta, Energetic Efficiency Department Chief.
These cars will be used by Commercial and Industrial Directions. However, it is planned to renew the fleet from every area.
"In total there will be five Kangoos and we will add another four cars from other assembly plants”, he said, “with these efforts, we want to keep showing our commitment to sustainability and our change into an energetic awareness through the use of environmentally friendly means of transport."
A retinue from Renault made the delivery of the vehicle.
Nowadays Ternium Mexico has 11 electrical chargers among its different factories. With the arrival of these new vehicles, the company will add six more to achieve a total of 17.
As part of the symbolic delivery, Cesar Jimenez gave the van keys to the partners from Pesquería Services. After that, a worker from the department drove off to Pesquería to test the vehicle.
Replacement of the internal fleet to electrical cars is one of the actions from Ternium as part of their environmental commitment.
For example, by the end of February, the company presented a decarbonization route that plans to reduce CO2 emission by 20% at a Ternium Global level from here to 2030.
Additionally, Ternium presented an investment plan of 460 million dollars for environmental projects in the Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil factories.
The vehicle has an autonomy of 200 kilometers.
