Construction in Argentina is changing and steel is the main protagonist. The sustainability of our material is combined with the intelligence of construction systems such as Steel Framing, and with new paneling technologies that maximize its efficiency. Examples of this new way of conceiving architecture are real estate developments, such as the complex “Ezeiza Park”, developed with a concept of environmental care and respect since the beginning.
The innovative project located in the city of Ezeiza, Buenos Aires, has 2,400 square meters, 42 functional units, and was built under strict quality and sustainability criteria.
Its development, using a Steel Framing construction system, provides excellent thermal and acoustic efficiency and faster construction, minimizing water consumption, and with 40% energy savings, both in the construction process and in the subsequent use of these functional units. Its architecture was designed to maximize the use of sunlight, while its structural design was developed under the IRAM-IAS U 500 258 standard and construction regulations such as CIRSOC 303, among others.
“Choosing Steel Framing as a construction method guarantees a very low carbon footprint and a water consumption lower than other construction systems,” said Luis Di Palma, President of Steel Tech.
Steel Tech Group, Ternium’s client, specializes in the manufacture and assembly of galvanized steel panels for Steel Framing, for subsequent assembly on site. Paneling for Steel Framing helps to avoid errors on site, optimizes the use of steel, and saves time in assembly, paneling, and the installation of services.
“It would have been impossible for the real estate developer to undertake the project by hand, cutting steel profiles on-site, but since they chose our technology, they received all the structures ready to be assembled on-site,” assured Di Palma.
“This project will mark a milestone in the way of constructing, demonstrating that it is possible to get a project from scratch with sustainability as a priority,” affirmed Carlos Siri, Head of Grupo Madero Construcciones, in charge of the project development. The real estate developer also agrees that the Ezeiza Park will lead the way for future developments: “This is a sustainable project, from its management, steel, and the rest of the supplies that are used and that guarantee an excellent finish work quality. I can firmly recommend this construction system to any real estate developer who would like to try this type of project,” said Rodrigo Ballester, Head of Desisco +B Desarrollos Inmobiliarios.
“Ezeiza Park is an example of how a construction project can be created efficiently and in a sustainable way. Steel as a material, with its recognized virtues of durability, sustainability, and versatility in use and design, is the central element in this new way of constructing that year after year emphasizes its growth and constructive possibilities. The use of panels allows to reduce the execution times and makes the use of space and movements on site more efficient and safer,” said Manuel Rastelli, Head of Sales to Commercial Clients of Ternium Argentina.
