During the four days of the Expoagro 2024 exhibition, we strengthen our commitment to our value chain and the importance of promoting synergy between agribusiness and the industry.
The most eagerly awaited event of the year for the agricultural sector took place from Tuesday, March 5 to Friday, March 8 at the San Nicolás Fairgrounds and Race Track, in the province of Buenos Aires, a few meters away from ourindustrial center. There was a record number of attendees, with more than 180.000 visitors, surpassing previous editions.
Ternium's stand had different sectors with tables, lounges, and an auditorium, which were ideal spaces for meetings, gatherings, and exchanges.
Our authorities toured the exhibition and met with representatives of the value chain. Martín Berardi, executive president of Ternium Argentina, José del Boca, commercial vice-president, together with representatives of the commercial area and ProPymes, visited the stands of the main manufacturers of agricultural machinery, transport and sprayers, customers of our company, talked about expectations and analyzed what is coming for the sector.
Martin Berardi said that “this year Expoagro has broken records. The local and regional impact is impressive”.
Being present at this fair for Berardi is “a message of being close to our customers, to a value chain that is much bigger than people think”. He assured that “there is a whole value chain that innovates and generates products to make production more efficient and we deliver products for those customers who develop agricultural machinery, hoppers, trailers, seeders, silos, a lot of products for the field that are manufactured with steel”.
Agrotechnology
During Expoagro our stand was also the meeting point for members of the Argentine Chamber of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers (CAFMA), who presented the new “Agrinova” brand, whose aim is to take Argentine agrotechnology to the world.
Carlos Braga, CAFMA's internationalization coordinator, thanked Ternium “not only for the daily push but also for the effort they made on this occasion to lend us the space. We appreciate the space and the continuous commitment”.
To strengthen our value chain, ProPymes talks were also held. On the one hand, under the title “Trends in Technology and Sustainability for the Insertion of Argentine Agricultural Machinery in the World”, which was given by the Agricultural Engineer Andrés Méndez, director of Agricultural Technology of the National Secretariat of Agriculture.
Eduardo Rana, an industrial engineer with 30 years of experience in the Techint organization and currently a ProPymes consultant in industrial management, gave a talk on “Competitiveness for the Optimization of Industrial Costs”.
New product
Expoagro 2024 was the scenario for the launching of our new product: Anti-Wear Solution for the transport and agricultural industry. This is Ternium's answer for various applications with wear and abrasion resistance requirements for transportation. It focuses on the most demanding area, using special steel plates with a tempering treatment that allows it to achieve high-performance wear resistance.
Roberto Bruna, Director of Research and Development of Ternium Argentina, explained the details of this innovative development, which was received with great expectation by those who came to our auditorium. Bruna explained that “we arrived at this product after understanding the needs of our customers and considering what kind of solutions we could provide them with”, emphasizing that these are “long-lasting solutions, easy to apply and for different uses”.
Awards
One of the highlights was the Ternium ExpoAgro Agroindustrial Innovation Awards presentation. This is one of the most important awards in agribusiness and has become a classic and this year it began to be given annually.
Thanks to a collaboration between Ternium, Expoagro, and the German Agricultural Society (DLG), these awards highlight Argentine creators' and entrepreneurs' creativity and originality. A renowned jury of 15 specialists evaluated 40 proposals, of which 9 were awarded prizes and there were special mentions.
Martín Berardi pointed out that this award “aims to reward and help disseminate new products in this sector, generate an exhibition showcase, the possibility of taking the product to other fairs and help in the transition of the product from a prototype to the first sales” and added: “There are more applicants year after year. We became an annual award because we have more projects and because there is more innovation every year”.
Ana Fernández Mouján, president of G-FAS, received the gold medal in the Ternium Expoagro Award for her revolutionary threshing head and said after receiving the award: “We want to thank Ternium for this possibility in Expoagro. We are young company that is growing in innovation and proposes better systems. Being able to show this improvement in the harvesting system makes us very happy and we also want to encourage others to innovate”.
Those who have already won this award asset its impact on their activities. Valeria Piersanti, director and commercial manager of the company Piersanti, winner of the first edition of the prize, said: “In this edition of Expoagro we are celebrating 15 years since we first presented the Draper in Argentina. Our company, an SME, was the first Argentine company to develop this technology for our country. We developed this product and presented it at Expoagro, with the great particularity that that year was the first edition of the award and we won the gold medal in the crop category, so for us, it is a double celebration”. She added: “We want to congratulate Ternium’s initiative of promoting the development and innovation of new technologies applied to machinery and agriculture”.
After the presentation of the awards, the 9th edition of the prize was launched. Inscriptions will be open from April 1 to July 30.
