The quality of the “Escuela Tecnica Roberto Rocca” in Pesqueria, Nuevo Leon, was acknowledged during the tenth edition of the Steelies Awards by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), which happened on October 14 in Monterrey, for winning in the category of Excellence in Education and Training.
The association gathers the most significant world producers of steel, and its members represent 85% of the global production. The awards, which have seven categories, acknowledge members of the organism for their contribution to the industry.
The “Escuela Tecnica Roberto Rocca” is an academic excellence project by Ternium Foundation for Education. Offers young people of the region a solid technical education so that they can find opportunities, develop and obtain an income that allows them to improve their living conditions.
In July 2019, the school’s first-generation graduated 2016-2019, comprised of 124 young technicians from high schools in Mechatronics and Electromechanics engineering.
Besides, the school has the environmental certification Gold LEED due to its design, construction and because it is environmentally friendly in the energetic subject and its use of resources.
With a 30 million dollar investment, this institution started classes in August 2016. Nowadays, 372 students study there, 100% of which count with a scholarship of up to 98% of the cost.
