In August 2021 the works for this new dining room began.
The future of Mexico is in the hands of the youth. Quality education and having optimal spaces for its arrangement are two key factors for the development of their full potential and to become those agents of change in benefit of Mexico.
To that end, Ternium, through its Technical Gen program, inaugurated the dining room “Technical Gen Roberto Rocca” in the college of Scientific and Technological Studies (CECYTE), located in Pesquería, this past February 25th.
Ternium invested 170.000 dollars in the construction of the dining room, which will benefit 578 youths who study in that establishment. The place has everything necessary to provide an optimal space for the consumption of food, having tables, chairs, microwave ovens, air conditioners available, and a cafeteria service that offers warm food and commercial products.
“Education is one of the essential points for the development of communities, it is the motor of this transformation that we are seeking”, outlined César Jiménez, CEO of Ternium Mexico during the inauguration of the dining room, “when you have the opportunity to study in an establishment which provides all the facilities, it motivates you to learn and to overcome anything”.
The dining room has everything necessary for the consumption of food.
This investment is part of the agreement signed in 2019 between Ternium and CECYTE Nuevo León as part of the Technical Gen program, where both parties committed to performing a joint investment of 22 million pesos during a three year period, for projects of technical education, the development of socio-emotional abilities, and new equipment in this educational establishment.
The program seeks to strengthen technical education, by contributing to the training of abilities necessary for Industria 4.0, by strengthening study plans with training for students and teachers, as well as offering industrial practices to students.
“This is proof that by working as a team everything is possible, our commitment is, has been, and will be to education, we believe that it is an essential motor for us, for Pesquería, for Nuevo León, and Mexico”, added Jiménez.
The event took place this past February 25th.
On his part, Manuel Héctor Martínez, Human Resources director, concurs that the program has trained the leaders of tomorrow as its main objective.
“We want to reinforce our students and everything about technical education, to be able to connect youths who graduate from technical schools to the productive area of work”, he commented.
During these three years, the investment of Technical Gen has not only been limited to the construction of a dining room but an Industrial Maintenance Workshop was also installed, which is divided into four areas: welding, tools and machines, electro-pneumatic and hydraulic and air conditioning and cooling.
Activities have been performed such as the donation of 40 computers to aid remote education during COVID-19 and the training of teachers in themes of mathematics, technical competencies, and agile methodologies.
“It is of vital importance to working as a team with companies like Ternium due to them exercising the function of social responsibility and making works in benefit of the students to boost their abilities”, commented Julio César Garza, director of the establishment.
An Industrial Maintenance Workshop was also built as part of the program.
“It was a very good idea to have given us a dining room because the truth is that we struggled a lot, we needed a place to eat; they are very good investments that they are performing and we are very thankful”, added Alan Medina, a sixth-semester student in the Business Administration major of CECYTE Pesquería.
